The roots of my land, Santa Eulalia del Campo, Teruel.

FROM THE BEGINNING, OUR ROOTS.

For good production to occur, certain climatic conditions are necessary; in addition, the quality of the plant and the soil are crucial, as much or more so than the dedication of the truffle grower .

The plant used is usually pre-mycorrhized. This process must be well-developed, with a minimum of mycorrhizal root tips (approximately 20% to 30%). This percentage will be influenced by the root development factors to which the plant has been subjected, and therefore, the number of mycorrhizal root tips will vary considerably from one crop to another. It is important that a plant has an optimal, well-developed root system, and the culmination of this process will be the establishment of a mycorrhizal relationship with the fungus.

There are several reasons that can lead to mycorrhizal failure:

  • Alterations in developmental morphology
  • Limited presence of mycorrhizae.
  • Other mycorrhizae that colonize those created

Thus, quality mycorrhiza is characterized by:

  • well-structured root system
  • Balance between aerial and radial parts
  • No signs of drying or overheating
  • Single or few stems
  • Visibility of buds susceptible to producing apical bud

In Santa Eulalia , our truffle growers take care of everything, working throughout the year and putting their effort into obtaining this valuable treasure, the black truffle of Teruel.

At Sentidos Truferos, we work to ensure our holm oaks are in optimal condition when the season arrives, and without a doubt, this valuable information that we are sharing with you has been an important pillar of our work.
